October-November Update
Dear Friends and Family,
Last time I wrote, we were leaving for Testimony retreat, and what a trip it was! It was one of those times where people came into the week one way and left completely different. I don't think it ever ceases to blow my mind how much shame and fear debilitates people’s view of themselves and their effectiveness in God’s kingdom. Watching people begin to taste freedom from those things was a gift. It was so much fun to be on the lead team this year as well and get to share our stories for a second time in a row. The first time I shared, personally I was absolutely terrified of what people would think of me if they knew who I truly was and this year, to be on the other side and share with a much deeper understanding of the Lord’s narrative over my life instead of the enemy’s was freeing and a lot of fun! It is exciting to watch the students relate to different pieces of our stories and begin to see redemption in their own.
We had a few smaller trips in between but one of the more recent adventures was a guys and girls retreat! We split off and take a few days to dive into what biblical femininity and masculinity actually looks like. Noah had the chance to teach and lead for a day, and was also assigned the very “enjoyable” task of giving the annual stop-flirting talk as part of his content. (Rev5 does not allow students to date.) All the chances to learn and lead in a very tangible way have been priceless and well worthwhile.
We just returned from our latest trip last week which was our Creed retreat. We spend the first three months digging up and identifying lies and narratives of the enemy and weeding them out (hence the impact of Testimony retreat) and Creed retreat begins the process of replacing the lies with biblical truth. Students take a week to pray through who God and Scripture say they are and create a list of I AM statements out of the time. While it seems so simple, knowing who we are determines what we do, and to have a biblical foundation and understanding of God’s narrative over our lives becomes the springboard for going into all the world and pushing forward His Kingdom effectively.
Prayer Requests:
-Rest: The Lord has brought us into a very sweet few months before the baby arrives with the time to pour into our marriage and prepare for this little boy. Pray for deep rest over the next month and a half as work and school with Rev5 slows down.
-Health: Noah’s health has been a continual battle for us. We are grateful for some progress that we have seen and would love continued prayer for healing and solutions.
-Tour: Noah is taking on the role of Music Director for our annual US ministry Tour in March. Pray for the planning process and vision as he begins writing out parts and training different people for their roles.
